Description

Catnip is not the most beautiful plant you can grow, but it’s quite useful. The small spikes of white speckled flowers attract pollinators and beneficial insects to the vegetable garden. And the same compound that sends cats flying to the moon also sends mosquitoes flying away. Also repels ants, aphids, cabbage moths, cabbage white butterfly, cabbage worms, potato beetles, cucumber beetles, flea beetles, Japanese beetles, mice, roaches, slugs, squash bugs, voles, and weevils, which makes it a great companion for just about everyone (except Parsley). Reseeds easily and can become invasive. Use the minty leaves to flavor tea, pasta, vegetables, soups, and sauces.

  • Mosquito repellent
  • Can be invasive
  • Grows 2'-3' tall
  • Good for containers
  •
As a medicinal herb, Catnip has been used internally to treat anxiety, colds, cough, fever, insomnia, nervousness, restlessness, sore throat, and upset stomach, and externally to treat black eyes and other bruises.

⚠️ Medicinal properties are presented as information only, and are not a recommendation or prescription for use. Consult a medical professional before using any herb medicinally.

      Safe Seed Pledge

      OUR PLEDGE TO YOU

Agriculture and seeds provide the basis upon which our lives depend. We must protect this foundation as a safe and genetically stable source for future generations.

For the benefit of all farmers, gardeners and consumers who want an alternative. We pledge to you that we do not knowingly buy or sell genetically engineered seeds or plants.  The mechanical transfer of genetic material outside of natural reproductive methods and between genera, families or kingdoms, poses great biological risks as well as economic, political, and cultural threats.

We wish to support agricultural progress that leads to healthier soils, genetically diverse agricultural ecosystems and ultimately healthy people and communities.

We do not buy - OR - grow any seed from large corporations that make Genetically Engineered seeds.  We don't touch that stuff and we never will.

The seeds we offer aren't like varieties you'd typically find at a garden center.

Every variety we offer is 100% OP (open-pollinated).  Open-pollination means that you can safely save the seed after harvest and preserve a collection of heirloom seed for many generations to come.

To make it perfectly clear ... Our seeds do not contain any exogenously inserted embryogenesis deactivator genes caused by human intervention.

I grew this herb last summer and it was amazing, strong and beautiful, relaxing in tea, and it smells so cool. It grew into a big, beautiful green bush. Everyone wanted try some for their tea, and I loved the extras I had out went for the cats next door. I always caught a few cats in the backyard playing around at my extra plant I had. I was able to save a few seeds and already got more growing for this summer, and plan to start more from the pack I still have left. I have a feeling I will be using this herb a ton for years to come.

        Customer Feedback:

I started some of these seeds indoors in a container for fun during the winter. They sprouted quickly and have grown really well considering the limited winter light. It's overflowing out of it's little container. Then, when spider mites came and ravaged six other herbs in the same window, this one is the only one that seemed to not be affected. It has a lovely minty-like smell, and I look forward to planting more outdoors to cultivate for tea!
